Renewables Community Meeting – 12 Oct – with voting

Dear All

There will be a TI Community Steering Group meeting for renewables on Sun 12 October at 5pm to vote on the proposal for a solar project at Mary’s Land.

Details on the voting procedure are available here: https://tinyurl.com/2510-TI-solar-voting-procedure

The 12 October meeting follows the TI Community Steering Group on Sun 21 September, which started with members of the community able to look at the proposal for the Mary’s Land Solar project, by visiting and having discussions at each of four themed tables:

1.    Visuals of how the solar panels would look in situ
2.    Local energy club and climate benefits
3.    Financial modelling of the project
4.    How to vote

This was followed by a general question and answer session.

An information leaflet has been produced, and this has been distributed as a paper leaflet to each household in the village. If you haven’t received a leaflet please email info@tayvallichinitiative.org and we will get one to you. The leaflet is also available at: https://tinyurl.com/2509-TI-solar-info-leaflet

The voting

  • The question on which the community will be asked to vote on Sun 12 October is: “I support the proposal that the scheme for community owned ground mounted solar on Mary’s Land proceeds to apply for planning permission”.
  • To this question you may vote “yes”, “no” or you may abstain.

Full details on the voting procedure are available here: https://tinyurl.com/2510-TI-solar-voting-procedure, and this information sheet includes details on:

  • how to return a proxy vote if you cannot attend the meeting
  • who is eligible to vote
  • how to become a member of TI
  • why TI, as a community trust with charitable status, is structured the way it is
  • how the voting will be organised (by ballot rather than a show of hands)

We hope to see you on Sun 12 October at 5pm. If you’re unable to attend please appoint a proxy if you are able to.

Best wishes,
Tayvallich Initiative Board
