Renewables Community Meeting – 21 Sep

Hello All, 

Following TI Community Steering Group meetings on Renewables in January 2024 and June 2024, work has been under way to explore options for community-owned electricity generation.

Notes from these two meetings are available here, giving background info and Q&As that arose at those meetings:


The Renewables Working Group would now like to invite you to a meeting on Sunday 21st of September to look at the proposal of a community-owned solar project on Mary’s Land. After commissioning further feasibility work and financial modelling we are ready to share a more detailed project proposal with the community. This includes visualisations of the solar array, the base income a project of this scale would generate for the community, the climate benefits of such a project and what our next steps might be. 

We want to give everyone time to consider the project proposal so a vote will not be held at this meeting. The vote will take place in early October at a second meeting with the opportunity to vote in advance by proxy for those not able to attend the meeting. 

The meeting on Sunday 21st of September will start at 5pm with an opportunity to look at the visualisation, review the financial modelling and to read the project proposal, followed by a Q&A starting at 5.30pm.

We hope to see you there. If you can’t attend we will be delivering a leaflet detailing the project proposal to every house and along with a guide to how voting will take place.
